Spreading Wings of Butterflies and Moths
General Preparation of Bugs
It is important to
position your insect specimens the way you want them, before you
let them dry. I like to have the legs and antennae spread out
and visible for display. Other collectors may want them more
compact to save space in their collection. In this video, Gary
shows us how to position your insects the way you want them. He
also talks about how to relax insects that are too dry to
reposition.
Collecting and preserving Dragonflies can be both fun and
challenging. When preserving Dragonflies and other Odonata it is
important to lock in the colors. Odonata colors and a result of
the fatty acids in the the cells. With proper preparation, you
can preserve the life colors of your specimens.
